What Is Model United Nations? Model UN is an academic simulation of the United Nations in which students research global challenges, debate possible solutions, and explore international relations. For example, a delegate could represent Thailand in the World Health Organization (WHO) and debate solutions and policies that adress neglected tropical diseases. At conferences, MUN delegates collaborate with students from all around California, the nation, and even the world to develop resolutions that attempt to solve international problems. Students in Model UN aquire finely tuned public speaking, writing, and communication skills. Most importantly, MUN provides students with insight into the world's most significant and fascinating current events.
Model UN at LACES LACES Model United Nations was founded in 2015 at the Los Angeles Center for Enriched Studies (LACES). Our program is proudly and entirely student run, and our delegates can agree that LACES MUN is a collaborative and positive environment for students to bond over a common interest in global affairs. From our humble beginnings in 2015 we have developed a competitive team that has collectively earned over 40 committee awards, competing at UC Berkeley, UCLA, USC, and local high schools. LACES MUN holds after school meetings every Thursday, and we welcome all LACES high school students.
